This should only be for a list of contact where we are sure the larger part of the list is NOT in HubSpot - If not, rather set up a list instead of importing.
Step 1: Prepare the excel sheet
- Please see the HubSpot Excel sheet template for Venture X here
- When uploading a sheet into HubSpot it is very important to ensure that you have the correct format and property names in the header cell 1, for example make sure that if the property name in HubSpot is "Location" that the sheet header column does not say "Area".
- Whether checking a sheet for a client or importing it the below 3 required properties need to be on the sheet before import - IF NOT the contacts will not assign to the correct location or be incomplete.
Required properties:
- Location
- Contact owner
- Email (Duplicate checker property in HubSpot)
Step 2:
- Once the sheet has been prepared navigate to contacts and click on import.
- In the import window select "Start Import" and click Next
- Then select "Start Import from computer" and click Next
- Then select "One File" and then "One Object" and next
- Then select "Contacts" and next
- Click on "Choose a file" and select your prepared import sheet form your computer
- Then make sure that the properties match correctly from your sheet to HubSpot.
- Once all properties are lined then you can select to import.
Step 3
- During the import process make sure to select "Create a list from import" so that you can share this with the client for their email.
Issues with Imports:
1. I have imported my list and then it disappeared or some of them have dissapeated:
This might happen because the required fields did not align to the correct "Contact Owner" property in HubSpot making the contacts unassigned (Venture X Users cannot see unassigned contacts).
Step 1:
In this case find the imported list by going to Contacts and then Import, under the imports window you will see all previously completed imports done in HubSpot:
Step 2:
Once you have located the file, hover over the list line and select "View Contacts"
Step 3:
Select all the contacts shows and then click "Edit" and "Contact Owner"
Select the contact owner of the client who enquired and click save.
